A benefit golf tournament will be hosted on Saturday to benefit the family of local paramedic Nick Barton who was injured in a motorcycle accident in Fisher County in August.

Barton was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock in critical condition after the wreck occurred and he sustained several broken bones and brain damage.

The Barton family is facing a number of visits to the hospital and rehab facilities in the future. Barton is not expected to return to work anytime in the near future and the family is on the verge of having very little income and needs help.

A fund has been set up locally at Sweetwater Regional Federal Credit Union, located at 1900 Preston Road in Sweetwater. Another way to donate is by visiting www.helpnickbarton.com. All proceeds will go towards medical expenses and the family appreciates any help they can get.

As far as the golf tournament goes, there will be a shotgun start at 8 a.m. and the event will take place at the Lake Sweetwater Municipal Golf Course. It will be a four-man scramble and cost is $300 per team or $75 per individual. Mulligans can be purchased for two for $10. Companies can also purchase sponsorships for $100, which will include one free entry into the golf tournament.
