The HSU Cowboys were off last week, and they start conference play this week at Mississippi College.

The Cowboys struggled in their first two games with losses to nationally ranked teams, but they closed non-conference by beating Texas College.

Now it's time for the games that count, and the Cowboys are ready to get it going.

Head coach Jesse Burleson said "The number one goal is to be 1-0 in conference whenever we leave Mississippi. That can be a difficult trip but we're looking at it as an opportunity so we're looking forward to getting on the road Friday and then taking care of business on Saturday. That's a huge momentum builder for what you're getting ready to do going into the rest of the schedule, but you got to be 1-0 before you can win them all and that's what we want to do so that's going to be our number one focus this week is just being 1-0."

Lineman Wyatt Walton said "It would be real good. That sets the tone for the rest of the season and that would be kind of the jive of the program. Just kind of get our wins back up and win on the road always."
