Hardin-Simmons University sophomores took the purple plunge Thursday.

The second-year students dipped their hands into bowls filled with a mysterious concoction which makes their hands purple for several hours.

Students search through the solution and pull out a key chain holding a replica of the senior ring students will receive from Hardin-Simmons as a gift upon graduation.

Students also received a bandana to wipe the purple stain off with and to keep as a memory until they receive their real rings senior year.
