HSU Tennis: Cowboys Fall in First Round of ASC Tournament

The two teams started nearly five hours after the originally scheduled start time of 2:00 because of persistent rain in Central Texas.</span></font></span></font>
BELTON, Texas - The Mississippi College men's tennis team swept through doubles and then kept it up in singles as the Choctaws rolled to a 5-0 victory over Hardin-Simmons in the opening round of the American Southwest Conference Men's Tennis Championship Tournament. The two teams started nearly five hours after the originally scheduled start time of 2:00 because of persistent rain in Central Texas.
 
Mississippi College posted 8-5 wins at #1 and #2 doubles and took #3 doubles by an 8-4 count. Dudley Lampton then rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at #5 singles and Jacob Womack closed it out for MC with a 6-4, 6-2 win at #3 singles. The Choctaws were also leading in three of the other four matches when the victory was clinched.
 
The Choctaws improve to 8-8 on the season and move into a 2:00 PM Semifinal match against U.T.-Tyler on Saturday. The loss ends Cowboys season at 5-14 overall.
