Buying jewelry is helping local Brown county hospital. Today and tomorrow Brownwood Regional Medic Center is hosting a masquerade jewelry sale. All of the proceeds will go to the volunteer scholarship fund. The volunteer program at BRMC has been around for years and they have been awarding people in the community and surrounding counties scholarship. The scholarships are used for allied health care careers. One who is selected to receive a scholarship can get anyway between $1,000 to $4,000. The volunteer program will about $30,000 worth of scholarship money in a year. This is the 3rd annual masquerade jewelry sale. Each year it get bigger and bigger. The marketing coordinator at the hospital spoke about the volunteers. There are about 75 active volunteers in the program. One can start volunteering at the age of eighteen. They must complete a minimum of six hours a week. There are some volunteers that have been in the program for 45 years.
