Jones Co.Couple Collects Rainwater For Household Purposes

The rainwater is also used for livestock and pets.
Rain has not been a common sight in the Big Country lately, however, one Jones County couple has found a way to make rain stay around a little longer.

The Cason family installed a 51,000 gallon rainwater collection tank about two years ago after they found out they did not have groundwater on their property. Since then, they have been collecting rainwater for household and stock use.

Although the Cason's put in countless hours of research, effort, time, and money to create the water system, they explain that it is all worth it knowing that they will always have water.

They installed a purification system that treats the water through UV rays before it is pumped into their house. They also use the water to take care of the livestock they have.

When their rainwater collection tank is full, they are able to use it for six to seven months before using the city water. They also explained that even a small amount of rain can really fill up their tank due to the large capturing area they have set up.
