Hot Tuesday, cooler with showers rest of the week ...
Tuesday will be another hot day, but the rest of the week will feature temperatures a little below average for mid-August and daily chances for rain Wednesday through Saturday.  First comes a cold front on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.  The front brings a 30 percent chance for rain on Wednesday.  In the upper levels of the atmosphere, around 18,000 feet, winds will blow northwest to southeast down the back side of a high pressure dome.  This high, situated to our west, will allow any storms which develop in northeastern New Mexico, Texas Pahandle, or even southeastern Colorado, to move southeast toward our area.  These are usually overnight type storms and can account for some significant rainfall where they happen.  That scenario looks to set up Wednesday through Friday and into Saturday.  As a result of more clouds and cooler air behind the front, high temperatures will drop into the low 90's for the Wednesday through Saturday time period.  There may even be a few 80's in the bunch, depending on cloud cover and rain coverage.
