The high Monday of 69 degrees in Abilene is something we can get used to, at least through Thursday. Our next cold front is slated for Friday but highs near 70 each day through Thursday can be expected. On Friday, highs closer to 50 degrees look in order with upper 40's for highs this weekend. Even with the cool down, it no longer looks like the big Arctic plunge suggested by the forecast models last week. An upper level low will traverse the state of Texas Friday through Saturday, bringing a good chance for rain to the Big Country, mainly during the day Saturday and Saturday night. So, if you have Christmas shopping plans Saturday, plan on wet weather over the area and cool temperatures. The rain should gradually taper off Sunday morning and its even possible some snow flakes could mix in with the rain in counties north of Interstate 20 on Saturday.
