The week started with excellent weather, an official high of 82 degrees at Abilene Regional Airport, with light wind and sunny skies. Tuesday will be much the same, just a little warmer. Wednesday and Thursday, the wind will begin to increase as it responds to our next storm system coming down the Rockies. The upper level low from the Pacific Northwest should drop into the Four Corners of the southwest U.S. then shoot across northeast into the Plains. This system will drag moisture in from the Gulf Thursday night and Friday. It could even cause some isolated showers or storms Friday but most likely Saturday, Sunday and Monday is when we can expect the best chance for rain. As of now, I'm holding with 20 to 30 percent chances, but early signs are the chances may get even better as we go through the week. No big cool downs are in the forecast for the next seven days ... middle 80's through Friday, upper 70's this weekend.
