An Abilene man has been indicted after a shooting where a man was almost shot in the back as he was driving away from a south Abilene church.

Joshua Wayne Garza was taken into custody last September after an argument nearly turned deadly.

Garza approached a man who was at a church parking lot on the 700 block of Palm, sitting in his vehicle and talking on the phone.

An argument took place and, as the man drove away, he heard a loud popping sound.

When the man looked back, he saw Garza fleeing into his home.

When police were called, they found a bullet hole in the man's car, and found the bullet which had come to rest in the driver's seat.

Garza was indicted on a charge of deadly conduct.
