Man Indicted for Stealing Thousands in Copper Tubing

A man has been indicted by a Taylor County Grand Jury after he allegedly stripped a radio tower in north Abilene of thousands of dollars of copper last April.
A man has been indicted by a Taylor County Grand Jury after he allegedly stripped a radio tower in north Abilene of thousands of dollars of copper last April.

The tower is in the 3600 block of Old Anson Road, just north of I-20.

It is estimated that about $4,000 worth of copper tubing was taken from the site.

40-year-old Curtis Ray New was taken into custody and charged with theft.

Detectives working on the case ran a search warrant at his home and found evidence that linked him to the crime.

He was also charged with possession of meth because they also found a glass pipe with meth in it.
