ABILENE, Texas – The 2013 McMurry University football team will have its first practice of the season en masse on Thursday (August 15) morning at 8:50 a.m. on Wilford Moore Stadium. Mason Miller is also embarking on his first season as a head coach on the collegiate level, after serving as an assistant on the McMurry staff the past four years.
Players will check in on Wednesday.
Miller welcomes back 43 returning letterwinners. A cache of talented newcomers is expected to bolster what still is expected to be a fairly young roster for McM.
Additionally, the McMurry squad will be welcomed back by brand new "Revolution" artificial turf that has been laid down in Wilford Moore Stadium. The field's fibers are a proprietary polymer formulation, with a base of silica sand and cryogenic rubber.
The War Hawks will have 14 practices before school opens on August 26. The first full-contact segment is slated for Tuesday, August 20.
