McMurry drops second game of the season

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - McMurry Unviersity was held to a 29-percent shooting effort in a 71-39 loss to NCAA Division II Tarleton State University Saturday afternoon. The War Hawks outscored the Texans by four in the second half but could not overcome the 36-point halftime deficit.

Keshia Collins led all War Hawks with 13 points on the night and Jamie Wilson added 10 points and three assists. Collins, Wilson, and Celeste Belizario each recorded six rebounds in the contest.
 
The Texans scored 35 points in the first 13 minutes while holding McMurry to only eight points in that span. TSU ended the first half with an 11-0 run. The War Hawks surrendered 18 points off of turnovers in the first half.
 
The second half started with a McMurry 11-4 run ended by a Katlyn Tarbet layup. McMurry took advantage of grabbing offensive boards recording six-second chance points in the second half. The War Hawks ended the game with an 8-2 run. The bench scored 12 points in the second half.
 
The War Hawks fall to 8-2 on the season with the loss. They currently are tied with Concordia University for first place in the American Southwest Conference West Division with a 6-0 record. McMurry returns to ASC action Thursday against Misissippi College in Clinton, Mississippi at 5:30 p.m.
