ABILENE, Texas - McMurry University women's basketball head coach Veronica Snow has announced the hiring of William Milton as the War Hawks' new assistant coach. His primary duties will include recruiting, scouting, and on-court coaching responsibilities for the McM program.

Milton replaces Amelia Reeves, who left the program after two seasons, because she and her husband Jason opened their own business – Punch Kettlebell Gym – in Austin.

Milton has a diverse background in basketball in both in coaching and player development. He has coached at several levels that include being a head coach at the high school level (Notre Dame H.S./Wichita Falls, Texas), junior college assistant positions (Frank Phillips College/Borger, Texas & Hill College/Hillsboro, Texas), as well as an assistant at the NCAA Division II level (Midwestern State University/Wichita Falls, Texas).

Milton earned his undergraduate degree as a Sport Fitness and Management major at Midwestern State University in 2007.

He is a native of Graford, Texas.  He resides in Abilene.

We are very excited that William Milton has joined us on staff at McMurry University," Snow said.  "We are able to meet a lot of young professionals through recruiting and Amelia Reeves (former assistant) met William through such a recruiting contact.  It was through the ensuing phone conversations and the recruitment activities we developed a relationship.  We all decided he would be an outstanding fit for our program.

"His character and dedication to a family atmosphere are important, as well as his proven ability to recruit.  He knows the game of basketball and will be a big asset in our player development and on the court coaching."

McMurry opens the 2013-14 season on November 8 versus Angelo State at the St. Mary's Tournament in San Antonio.
