The Sweetwater Mustangs took strides toward getting the program back to where it was in the past.

They missed the playoffs by 1 game last year.

12 starters are back including Preseason Offensive MVP Kaegan Jeffery.

Jeffery says 7-on-7 is a great time to refine things for the Fall.

"We're still going to run the sam offense as we did. We're more up tempo. Working on the kind of stuff we didn't run last year, some of the easier stuff," said quarterback Kaegen Jeffery.

"Now that we're in seven-on-seven we're spending more time together, time working on football, getting ready for game situations and what not.  I feel like we're going to be more technically sound next year," said Marques Jenkins.

"Coming back from last year, we were nine minutes away from making playoffs. All offseason we said 'nine minutes, nine minutes' and those nine minutes are going to be our motivation to make playoffs this next year," said Jeffery.

The Mustangs are picked to finish the 2013 season in the playoffs after a 4th place finish in District. 4-3A.
