New Sheriff's Association Looks To Push For Salary Increase

Members say they would not be willing to strike or boycott, emphasizing that they are not a union.
The newly established Taylor Co. Deputy Sheriff's Association is now official.

One of the first items on their agenda is working to get a salary increase.

Sgt. Craig Griffis, the association's newly appointed president, says they fall below the average pay in comparison to counties similar in size and many in the department have left to work for other counties or other professions as a result.

Members say they would not be willing to strike or boycott and emphasize that they are not a union.

They say they hope to be an influence by endorsing elected officials and voicing their concerns to the public.
