Additional information has been released on one of the suspects captured Wednesday after he and another man were found in a stolen car.

24-year-old Kyle Hayward was arrested Wednesday at the Las Brisas Apartments after he stole his mother's car.

When he spotted police, he and another male ran on foot.

Thursday, the Abilene Police Bomb Squad safely dismantled a pipe bomb found in the vehicle.

According to police, Hayward stole license plates for the stolen car at Martinez Elementary, and the car he stole the plates from belonged to the wife of an Abilene police officer.

Wednesday, during Hayward's arrest, he sprayed two officers with pepper spray and tried to take a gun from an officer. One officer also had to go to the hospital for an injury.

Hayward is charged with assault of a public servant, attempting to take a weapon from an officer, theft of a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest. He was also wanted for burglary of a vehicle.

Hayward is in jail on bonds totaling close to $100,000.

The name of the other male who was with him has not been named and may be a juvenile.
