Water rates could be on the rise for folks in Eastland County as the county's only source of drinking water may soon become depleted.

A substantial amount of water from Lake Leon must be dumped into the Brazos River for the use of Dow Chemical Company.

The county says water rates will have to go up if they abide by the plan set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The Eastland Country Water Board has hired an attorney and plans to fight to keep their water.
