Preseason Is A Chance To Shine

The preseason is a great time for young players to make an impression on the coaches and the rest of the players on the team, and that's no different for the Dallas Cowboys.
The preseason is a great time for young players to make an impression on the coaches and the rest of the players on the team, and that's no different for the Dallas Cowboys.

Jason Garrett's team starts the preseason on Sunday night in the Hall of Fame game.

For the stars, this is a chance to clean up some things heading into the season, but the new guys need to look good in their limited opportunities.

Garrett said, "If you are a young football player, there's going to be a tape of you. It's not realitive to the other quarterback, or relative to the other defensive linemen. There's going to be a tape of your plays. There might be 1 this day. There might be 15 this day. There might be 20 this day. There might be none this day. It goes on and on and on. There's a tape. That's your opportunity. That's your calling card. The coaches are going to look at it and evaluate you. What you need to do is focus on yourself, getting better, taking advantage of your opportunities. We try to emphasize that to our whole football team."

Those players get their 1st shot in a game on Sunday night against the Miami Dolphins. They are playing in the Hall of Fame game at 7.
