With the recent rain and slightly cooler temperatures the fleas and ticks are celebrating. Animal Services is providing a free tick and flea dip for dogs and cats Wednesday, August 21 from 2-4 p.m. at the ACCO Farm and Ranch Center; 249 E. S. 11 Street. Personnel will administer a flea and tick spray to cats. All cats must be in a carrier.
“The partnership with the City of Abilene has been great and we hope all residents of the Big Country can come; have their pets dipped or sprayed and continue to be great pet owners,” said Kevin Jackson of ACCO Farm and Ranch Center.
“This may be the last one we have for a while and it is a great chance for all the area to protect their animals and families from dreaded diseases that fleas and ticks can carry,” said Animal Services Manager Aaron Vannoy.
The flea and tick dips are designed to kill any ticks and fleas on the pet at the time of the dip. However, owners will also need to treat the yard and any other areas the pet may come in contact with. A pesticide dip and a non-pesticide dip will be offered.
