Report: Ron Washington will return in 2014

Many Rangers fans were disappointed with how the Rangers season ended, and some were even calling for the firing of manager Ron Washington. That will reportedly not happen.
Many Rangers fans were disappointed with how the Rangers season ended, and some were even calling for the firing of manager Ron Washington. That will reportedly not happen.

The Rangers lost in a tie-breaker game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night, and it didn't take long for the first report surrounding Washington's job status to surface.

Early Tuesday afternoon, CBSSports' John Heyman reported that Washington will return in 2014 as the Rangers manager.

At the same time, Washington is the Rangers all-time leader in wins as a manager, and led the Rangers to their only two World Series appearances.

That being said, even Washington was disappointed with the way the 2013 season ended for the Rangers.

"Disappointed. No more feeling than I did [Monday] night, but still disappointed because our inentions were to possibly get to the World Series. We didn't do that. Those expectations don't change, and the feelings you feel when it doesn't happen, doesn't change either, but we're all human. We'll asses things, and we're going to move on," said Washington.

The Rangers are 611-524 (.538) in Washington's seven years as manager, and have won 90 games the last four seasons.
