The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the two deaths. Picture show what is believed to be a burned out Beechcraft airplane.
The plane caught fire after crash, according to an FAA spokesperson. The resulting fire charred some two acres of a farm field.
Ellis County officers initially responded to reports of thick, black smoke seen billowing from a farm. They discovered the aircraft upon arrival.
Officials are working to determine the identities of the passengers. It's unclear at this point where the plane took off from or where it was headed.
A team from the National Transportation Safety Board is expected to start an investigation and will arrive on the scene Monday.
