The American Academy of Pediatrics wants parents to start thinking about flu season now. Children are considered in the vulnerable group making it critical for them to receive the flu vaccine. Pediatricians recommend children ages six months or older should receive a flu vaccine every year as soon as it's available. It’s important to be protected before the flu starts circulating. This year, for the first time, there is a flu vaccine available that protects against four strains of the virus instead of just three.
