There is a new vaccine that now makes it possible to defend against up to four strains of the flu virus. The vaccine was previously only able to protect against three strains. This new vaccine could be more helpful to children and the elderly because they are more likely to be affected by the 4th strain. 135 million doses of the flu vaccine will be produced this year, but only 30 million will protect against the fourth strain.
