Smart Woman: New Wristband Trackers Promote Safety

Many missing persons cases involve those who have dementia and Alzheimer's diseases. Because their safety is so critical to their health, a police department in Texas has developed a wristband tracking system.
Scores of missing cases are reported in Texas each year, many involve elderly residents suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's. If not found quickly, those people are at high risk of injury or even death.

A local police department is now offering tracking wristbands to prevent that from happening. It can make the difference in saving someone's life.

Meet Woodway Police Department's newest toy. It's a wristband transmitter, available to residents fighting Alzheimer's, dementia, or any mental disorder that might cause someone to wander from home.

The bracelets will be available at the start of next year. To get one you must live in the city limits of Woodway and prove you have a disorder like Alzheimer's or dementia. The bracelets are also available for special needs children.

The downfall is they cost 300 bucks. But it's a price many might consider, if it means finding a loved one safe and sound.
