The Maldonado's lost everything, but since then, the family continues to receive donations. The family has been staying at the homeowner's mother's house since last week. They've received clothes, food and toys from businesses and strangers the day after the fire, according to homeowner Melissa Maldonado.
"My mother's house started filling up," Maldonado said. "We've had to use a storage space and even her mini-van."
As of Monday, the family continues to receive gifts from strangers. In fact, Maldonado says they've lost track of whom and where their donated items come from.
"It taught my kids a lot," adds Maldonado. "They've realized there are good people out there that will help you when you're in need."
The cause is undetermined because of the extensive damages, the Snyder fire department says. Melissa and her family are currently staying at a place her brother helped them find. They plan to tear down the existing home and building a new one.
