If you’re looking for answers regarding Social Security benefits, mark your calendar to attend a workshop at the Abilene Public Library the evening of Monday, October 14.
“Maximize Your Social Security Benefits” will be presented by Cliff Gardner with Gardner & Associates, a financial and retirement services company in Abilene. The presentation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 in the second floor auditorium of the Main Library at 202 Cedar Street.
“For many people, the problem with retirement will not be dying too soon, it will be living too long,” according to Gardner. “Living too long can be a difficult issue with insufficient income. We have to be smart when making decisions.”
Gardner will cover all the basics of social security, 2013 program changes, common filing scenarios and provide a “Social Security road map to optimization”.
“Those nearing or beyond the age of 65 and uncertain as to when it might be best to begin receiving social security, should find the information very helpful,” according to the speaker.
Gardner spent 27 years as an educator including 11 years as a school superintendent at various school districts in Texas before he and his son Tyler formed their company in 2010.
