An eight day long race powered by the sun made a pit stop in Breckenridge Tuesday afternoon.

The 20th Annual Solar Car Challenge started in Dallas, and made it's way through the Big Country. High school students built the solar-powered cars from scratch, and are racing them to California.

Spectators were able to ask questions, and a few kids were even able to sit behind the wheel. One boy there for the stop says he's now ready to learn more about engineering so they can build their own.

The solar-powered cars continued on the Snyder for the night. The race will conclude in Los Angeles Tuesday, July 30th.
