Strong Finish Leads To District Title

Sweetwater tied the game up at 28 with 10 minutes to go in the game, but Hugh Sandifer's Wylie Bulldogs closed strong to win their 7th game of the year.
The playoffs begin this week, and the Wylie Bulldogs are going into the postseason on a high note.

The Bulldogs closed the regular season with a 42-28 victory over Sweetwater to earn a share of the District 4-3A championship.

Sweetwater tied the game up at 28 with 10 minutes to go in the game, but Hugh Sandifer's boys closed strong to win their 7th game of the year.

"We take it upon ourselves to do good, and whenever we're tied like that we just get up on the sidelines. We're talking to each other, letting each other know that we've got this, and we're not content with and we can do better. We showed them, we scored a touchdown right before halftime," said offensive lineman Justin Allison.

"They made some big plays happen. That's just kind of how their offense is ran, it's big plays. So, we knew they were going to try and make something big happen. I think we really  answered back good, and we kept our poise," said Tye Calhoun.

"I think our kids played with an absolute passion, and played like we had nothign to lose in the game because we wanted to win the title. So, I was excited to see the kids play with that type of energy all night," said head coach Hugh Sandifer.

Wylie takes on Ft. Stockton for the bi-district championship in Big Spring on Friday. Wylie is riding an 11 game winning streak in the 1st round.
