Suspect Confesses to Stealing Vehicle, Setting it on Fire

On Tuesday, September 17, a man reported his 2009 Jeep Wrangler was taken from his residence sometime after 10 p.m. the previous day.

On Tuesday, September 17, a man reported his 2009 Jeep Wrangler was taken from his residence sometime after 10 p.m. the previous day. 

At approximately 12:39 p.m. that same day, a citizen reported to APD that the vehicle was on fire in the 100 block of Spinks Road, in Tye.  

APD officers contacted two male subjects on Chapel Hill Road in Abilene who were possibly involved. 

TCSO's CID investigators questioned the subjects at the LEC and obtained a confession from one of them. 

The subject also signed a Consent to Search, and allowed officers to examine his cell phone. 

Photos of the burning vehicle with the other suspect standing nearby were found on the phone. 

Arrested by TCSO investigators and charged with Arson and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle were Philip Lee Bacon of Buffalo Gap, and William James Fenwick of Abilene, both 19-years-old. 

They are being held in the Taylor County Jail under bonds totaling $15,000 each.
