Their truck had become stuck behind a trailer home, so they decided to steal the vehicle of one of the residents nearby. The resident called the Taylor County Sheriff's office, reporting the attempted theft, when the men fired shots prompting the woman to hide in her home until authorities arrived.

The men, who are in their early 20s, fired shots at law enforcement as they arrived on the scene. Authorities did not return fire. No one was injured.
