Aubrey Sims has taken the head coaching role and run with it. Replacing Chad Rogers, who left after the end of last season, Sims bring in a whole new offense and defense.
"We are just trying to learn as much as we can right now and just pick it all up so we will be ready for the season." Adds junior Andrew Porter.
The Tigers have switched the offense from the wishbone to the spread. Senior Brandon Davis, who played fullback as a junior, fills the spot left by Keenon Ward as quarterback.
"He's doing a great job. We are really excited about where he is going to be by the end of the year." adds Sims.
"Brandon is an Athlete. He's probably the best athlete we have on the team. He will defintely help us a lot. He's not Keenon, but he's pretty dang close."
After two weeks of learning a new scheme, and instilling new quarterback, the Snyder Tigers had their first scrimmage of 2012 against Bushland last Friday. It helped them figure out that next step they need to take to continue to get better.
"We've just got to sharpen everything up, our execution and staying with our blocks and the same thing everybody else does at this time. You know, wrapping up and staying on out tackles."
"Mostly on our defensive side we need to wrap up and bring the fundamentals back to our defense."
Hard work and on the field and inside the weight room will be the different maker for this Tigers team- and help them compete for a district title for the second year in a row.
Snyder starts the season up in Amarillo against the Caprock Longhorns on August 31.
