The Anson Tigers and the Stamford Tigers start their Class A regional final baseball series on Thursday.
The Anson Tigers and the Stamford Tigers start their Class A regional final baseball series on Thursday.

The Tigers advanced to this round by sweeping Fort Hancock over the weekend.

They won game 1 3-0 in a pitchers dual, and then Anson exploded for 14 runs in game 2.

The Tigers are showing they can win in low scoring or high scoring game this season.

Gavin Hill said, "In practice, we work on both real well. I guess in the game we put them all together, and it comes together real well. We've just been working real hard on that stuff."

Tyler Jimenez added, "We just start hitting the ball and putting it in play, and that's when they start making mistakes. Then, we get rolling. It's hard to stop us, especially with how good we are. It's hard to stop a team when they get rolling. That's not just us, that's any team."

Stamford and Anson start their series Thursday night at McMurry at 7. Game 2 is Saturday at 5. The winner advances to the state tournament.
