MUNDAY, TX-Family and friends gathered at Munday's Scruggs football field to say goodbye to a beloved friend early Wednesday afternoon.

Coach Ronny Lowrance suddenly died Sunday morning. Heart attack is believed to be the cause. He's been a Moguls track coach and football defensive coordinator for 11 years. He graduated from the high school back in 1986.

During his time as a coach, he led his track team to three consecutive state championships. He also helped coach the football team to two state championships where they won the title last year.

Munday schools were released early so people can attend the funeral. People wore purple to represent the high school colors. Community members sat in the bleachers while Lowrance's friends and family sat on the field.

Coach Lowrance leaves behind three children and a wife who he's been married to for 23 years.

Former players came back to visit the coach who they call a mentor and their biggest supporter. According to the players and coach, he was helpful in inspiring people and taught them to be driven in life.

At the end, the fire and police department led the casquette to the other side of town where Coach Lowrance was laid to rest.
