28-year-old John Andrew Weldon entered a guilty plea for two counts against him in federal court on Monday.
Weldon says last March, he gave his girlfriend Cytotec in a pill bottle that he had re-labeled as amoxicillin.
Weldon admits that he forged a prescription to obtain the drug from a pharmacy.
Weldon's attorney, Todd Foster, says his client was facing a life sentence in prison and the plea deal is the best he could have hoped for.
Under the terms of the plea arraignment, Weldon will not be able to appeal his sentence once it is handed down and he must serve at least 85 percent of the prison time.
Attorney Gil Sanchez represents Weldon's former girlfriend and says the plea deal is better than going to trial.
