The Texas State Technical College Culinary Institute was buzzing with patrons Thursday as the West Texas Book Fair brought a few chefs and cookbook authors to town for the Culinary Cuisine Luncheon.

The event kicked off at 11:30 a.m. and featured a gourmet meal. The meal consisted of dishes from each of the chefs' books and was prepared by the students of the culinary institute. The featured chefs came from all over the state for the festival and included Tim Byres, Cindy Burch, Sharon Riley, and Robb Walsh.

Tim Byres wrote the cookbook Smoke, which is also the name of the Dallas restaurant that he is a co-owner of. Waxahachie chef, Cindy Burch, owns the resteraunt Dove's Nest, which is where her book gets it's name as well. Abilene's own Sharon Riley introduced her first book, Yum! Yum! An Abilene Tradition, during the festival. Chef Robb Walsh is the author of Texas Eats: The New Lonestar Heritage Cookbook.

The Texas Cookbook Gala is Thursday at 6 p.m. at Abilene Country Club. The Gala will feature wine from Texas vintners, Becker, Brennan, and Llano.
