The 2014 realignment is just a couple short months away and with the addition of Class 6A things are changing in the Big Country.

With a smaller Class 6A, Abilene High and Cooper will now be split up as a result. Abilene High's enrollment number of 2107 falls just inside the 2100 cutoff number for the new classification. Cooper on the other hand has an enrollment number of 2044 and will stay in Class 5A.

A total of four Big Country high schools fall into Class 4A. Wylie (1003), Brownwood (893), and Snyder (687) will fall into division one in the next realignment. Sweetwater (535) will be in division two for the next two years.

Another noticeable change in this year's realignment is six-man football now becoming Class 1A. Some schools that still play 11-man in Class 1A will actually fall into Class 2A due to the smaller classification only playing six-man football. That includes schools like Munday, Baird, Roby, and Cross Plains.

The district realignments will be released on February 3rd.
