Supplies, including 50 K-Ready Kids early reader literacy kits, were distributed to Long Elementary on August 23rd. Literacy kits include items for fine motor and emergent writing skills, as well as two new children’s books.
The 3-week long K-Ready Kids drive took place at all Abilene United Supermarkets locations. Store customers could purchase supplies in-store or make monetary donations at the register.
“We are so thankful to the many generous community members that contributed to K-Ready Kids this year,” said Dr. Cathy Ashby, United Way of Abilene President/CEO. “It is a wonderful opportunity to help prepare our students for school.”
This is the 2nd year for the K-Ready Kids partnership between United Way of Abilene and United Supermarkets.
