The War Hawks wasted little time finding the ednzone on Saturday night with a drive on their first series of the game. At the same time the Aggies of Oklahoma Panhandle State would not go away easily.
Early in the first quarter the Aggies found the endzone on fourth down with a run by quarterback Caleb Holbrook to cut the McMurry lead down to 18-13.
McMurry would quickly respond on their next drive with a touchdown pass from new quarterback Gabe Rodriguez to Jeret Smith. That restored the War Hawks twelve point advantage at 25-13.
Then the McMurry defense would come up with a stop on fourth down to give the ball back to the offense, and Rodriguez and company would quickly take advantage.
A touchdown pass from Rodriguez to Greg Livingston would extend the War Hawks lead to 32-13 heading into halftime. From there they would cruise to a 53-27 victory.
Next weekend the War Hawks will welcome future Lone Star Conference foe Angelo State to Wilford Moore Stadium.
