This week, head coach Mason Miller's team is getting ready to face a future Lone Star Conference rival for the second time this season.
The Angelo State Rams are coming to town on Saturday, and the last time the two teams played, Richard Nixon was the leader of the free world.
Miller said "I think it's awesome. We're playing teams that everybody knows who they are and we got a long way to go. Like I said we're a very young football team, and so for us to have the ability to grow right now is a big deal for us, but also for the school in general and the community. You know Angelo State is coming to town, WT (West Texas A&M), next year Tarleton or whoever is coming here. It's something that the fan base and the community understands and they recognize and it's not kind of a hodge-podge of games and for us in this transition it was a big deal for us, and we had to do that last year because we had no affiliation."
