War Hawks Soar on Day One of The Tribute at the Classic

THE COLONY, Texas – After Day 1 of The Classic at The Tribute tournament, McMurry University’s men’s team finds itself in ninth place, with just 14 shots separating the top 11 teams in the event. The War Hawks posted a team composite score of 290 for the day.

THE COLONY, Texas – After Day 1 of The Classic at The Tribute tournament, McMurry University’s men’s team finds itself in ninth place, with just 14 shots separating the top 11 teams in the event. The War Hawks posted a team composite score of 290 for the day.

The par-72, 6,535-yard Tribute course yielded some great scores, with no less than 22 players coming in under par. Among those were War Hawks Matt Porter and Mitchel Fagan, who shot identical scores of two-under-par 70. Both also shot 37 on the front nine and 33 on the back nine, sitting in a tie for 14th place.

Freshman Jansen McBride had an even-par round of 72 (35-37) and is tied for 23rd place.

Seth Abbott is tied for 69th after an opening round of 78. Senior Curtis Stanley carded an 81 for the day (78th place).
The tourney wraps up with 18 holes on Tuesday.
