The access roads on Loop 322 and on the Winters Freeway in south Abilene now go both ways, but workers will rework the roads.
TxDOT awarded the bids to two local companies and the total is more than $8 million.
The project will include changes at the entrance and exit ramps, turn-around lanes and sidewalks.
There is no word on when the projects will start, but TxDOT estimates that it will take about 18 months to finish the job.
Highway officials say changing the access roads to only one-way means fewer accidents and less confusion for drivers.
