The win improved the Lady Buffs record to 5-3 and 4-0 in the LSC.
West Texas had four players score in double figures led by Joni Unruh's 19 points, and as a team, shot 67 percent in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats 45-39 down the stretch.
Devin Griffin contributed 15 points for the Lady Buffs, followed by Keisha Harris with 14 and Ashley Leven with 10.
West Texas also made 77 percent (24-of-31) of its free throws while ACU failed on 14 of its 46 attempts (61 percent).
Wildcat sophomore Mack Lankford led all players with 22 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field and had seven points from the free-throw line. Renata Marquez and Hillari Adam poured in 11 and 10, respectively.
Plagued by 16 turnovers (23 overall) and an early five-minute scoreless streak, ACU entered halftime down 35-22. Lankford scored 12 first-half points, five of which were earned at the foul line.
ACU led at one point 5-4 following a Lankford 3-pointer - ACU's only one of the game - but the Lady Buffs responded with a 15-4 run capped by a trey from Unruh.
West Texas, which shot 38 percent in the first half, grabbed a 16-point lead with 2:09 remaining after Griffin completed a three-point play. The Wildcats then scored four points from the foul line over the final 1:50 to go into the break down 13.
The Lady Buffs continued to extend their lead throughout the second half and reached a 20-point lead following a Leven layup at the 11:58 mark. They attained their biggest lead of the game at 26 points late in the contest on free throws by Brittany Williams and Griffin.
The Wildcats return to action this weekend with a road game at Eastern New Mexico. Tip-off time is set for 6:30 p.m. MT/5:30 CT.
