Wednesday, September 11 the West Texas Fair & Rodeo will celebrate “Remember when…1963” and Senior Citizen’s day. Come visit the Expo Center of Taylor County Fairgrounds for the same admission prices charged 50 years ago. In 1963, adult entrance tickets were only $.75 and $.30 for students. Senior citizens will have free admission to the grounds as long as they can prove they are 60 years or older.

To remember 1963, the fair will flash back 50 years with Elvis tribute artist Harvey McFadden. Then you can “Go Go Dance” to the classic songs from the Beatles performed by the British Mania Beatles Tribute Band.

If you like to dress for special occasions, then by all means please dress in 1960’s attire for this years’ fair. In the early 1960’s, designers looked to the fashion style of First Lady Jackie Kennedy to inspire women’s clothing. Ladies, dress for the occasion in pedal pushers with a shirt embellished with oversized buttons or wear a “shift” dress. If you’re into wearing hats the Pill Box hat was very popular in the 1960’s and is making a come-back as worn by Kate Middleton, now known as Catherine Duchess of Cambridge. Men’s clothing consisted of wide ties, trouser straps, crazy prints, stripes and patterns that were vibrant in color.

Have fun and “Remember When…1963” at the West Texas Fair & Rodeo September 5-14 at the Taylor County Expo Center.
