Safety City's Summer Safety Camp
It’s time to sign up for Safety City’s Summer Safety Camp. The camp, located at Safety City will have two sessions available. The first one begins Monday, July 22, and runs through Thursday, July 25. The second session begins Monday, August 5 and runs through Thursday, August 8.
Summer Safety Camp will offer activities and lessons about various safety topics in a hands-on learning environment. Each day will feature a special guest and topics such as water, bicycle and bus safety, sports and fitness safety, fire safety and making good choices.
Registration is taking place now through Friday, July 12. The camp is open to students entering the 2nd through 4th grade in the coming school year. Cost is $40 per person which includes a T-shirt if registered by the July 16 deadline.
City Recreation’s Summer Playground
The Summer Playground Program offers children ages 6 to 13 a safe environment during the summer to enjoy games, field trips, crafts, gym activities and more at one of six locations around Abilene Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided courtesy of Abilene ISD.
Online registration is available at www.abilenetx.com by looking under the City Spotlight heading. For those registering online, please contact the Community Services Office at 325-676-6217 to receive a username and password which is required to register. Registration will also take place at the City of Abilene’s Community Services Office located at 633 Walnut St.
Session One will be held June 10 to June 28 at a costs of $71 per child. Session Two will be held July 1 to July 26 (no activities held July 4) and costs $87 per child. Session Three will be held July 29 to August 16 (no meals provided the week of August 12) and costs $71 per child. Field trip fees are not included in the cost. Each child will receive a free Summer Playground T-shirt for the summer.

Nelson Splash Park
Nelson Splash is free to the public and operates seasonally from sun up to sun down seven days a week. Nelson Splash is located in Nelson Park next to the Abilene Zoo, Camp Barkeley Dog Park, Nelson Lake, Fort Imagination playground and Nelson Park softball fields.
The 3,000 square foot splash park has 26 water features and areas for both younger and older children. The water features are triggered by sensors which are activated by tapping the hand at the main entrance. Nelson Splash also has shaded picnic tables, water fountain, and restroom facilities. Abilene Zoo Summer Camps -2013

Hours of operation for Rose Park Pool will be 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Admission is $4 per person for adults, age 16 and older, and $2 for youth, age 6 - 15. A concession stand is available.
Hours of operation for Stevenson Park Pool will be 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
Admission is $1 for ages 6 - 15 and $2 for ages 16 and over.

The Breckenridge City Pool
Opens June 4.
Hours are from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Adult-only aerobics: 7:30 to 8:30 Tuesday through Friday
Daycare Swim Day: 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays.
Daily fees are $2.50 with children under three years of age admitted free.
Pool rentals are $70 an hour and swimming lessons are $35.
Swimming Lessons through June 28 and from July 8 to August 2.

Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center
Opens June 2. There will be two daily swim sessions and will also extended hours on Tuesdays & Thursdays until 8:00 p.m. for family swim time.
Wiggins Pool will also open June 2 and hours will be Tuesday through Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

North Coleman Baptist VBS
North Coleman Baptist Church is hosting a Vacation Bible School next week. It will be held June 3 through June 7 from 5:30-7:00. All ages welcome!
