Hamlin vs. Anson
For the Hamlin Pied Pipers it may be a brand new season, but its still the same tough attitude.
"Well every year is different, we've got different kids, we lose seniors every year and things change. We are real proud of the seniors we got this year, our seniors are doing a great job of leading us and we tell them every year our team will only be as good as our seniors allow us to be, but they are doing a great job and we are real proud of them." says Head Coach Russell Lucas.
With a solid group of seniors at the helm, Hamlin looks to be a part of the top bunch fighting for a district title. But its not just the district that matters.
"We have a tough non-district schedule. We could be better than last year and not win as many games, so we are going to have to get after it, and every week will be a challenge for us and then our district we feel like will be the same way." adds Lucas.
Senior Offensive Lineman, Ryne Lucas adds, "Every season we start out and we have a pretty tough preseason, and we always have the rivalry Stamford, that we look forward to, and District is going to be a dog fight, that's what it was last year, and we have a rivalries in that and then teams we didn't know as good but we are always looking forward to a good game and just hope we can give them our best stuff."
This year the Pied Pipers have a strong Offensive Line and an experienced defense. Its the inexperience at Wide Receiver and other key positions they are hoping the underclassman can step into and be successful.
"We lost a couple of receivers, but we got a couple of guys stepping in and taking over those spots, and right now everyone is just working hard and busting their butts, and you know everything is looking pretty good, but we'll see once we get another team against us." adds Kylon Davis, Senior Linebacker.
And you can bet the Pied Pipers are ready for anything this 2011 season will throw at them.
