Abilene tied a record low temperatures for January 28th.  At 6:52 AM Tuesday, the thermometer hit 10, which is the old record from 1895.  Yes, the coldest January 28th Abilene has seen in 119 years.  That is impressive.  Lows Tuesday night will dip to near 15, highs Wednesday warm to near 50.  Southwest wind returns Thursday, becomes gusty, which leads to an elevated wildfire danger with humidity below 20 percent likely.  Highs on Thursday will be near 70.  There is a bit of uncertainty about Friday, it could play out in two ways.  First, which is what I'm forecasting, is a warm day near 75 on Friday with a cold front just north of our area.  The front drops south Friday night or Saturday morning, dropping highs into the middle 50's on Saturday and low 50's on Sunday.  The second thing which could happen is the front actually push a little farther south on Friday, instead of Friday night and Saturday, causing cooler temperatures than the forecast in the middle 70's.  The part of the forecast most interesting is early next week as signs are pointing to a few showers on Monday with a much better chance for rain Monday night and Tuesday.  Keep your fingers crossed !
