David Bacon watched KRBC-TV when he was growing up in Abilene. So, it’s appropriate that he’s on the station that helped fuel his interest in broadcasting.
Bacon graduated from Cooper High School and then earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Methodist University. He worked for TV stations in Midland, San Antonio, and St. Louis before returning home in December 1981 as the Sports Director at KTAB-TV.
Bacon was on-air for the next 24 years covering two Super Bowls, a MLB All-Star Game, and numerous local high school and college championship events. He then switched to KTAB Sales, primarily to follow his son and daughter’s school activities.
The opportunity to return to on-air news anchoring was attractive to Bacon, who can add his experience for Abilene’s Local News. Bacon will continue as “The Voice of the McMurry War Hawks” for football, basketball, baseball, and softball.
