EARLY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A police pursuit starting in Winters ended early Friday morning in Early with a fiery crash. 

Two people were arrested. Their identities were not immediately released. 

According to the Early Police Department, they were notified at about 5 a.m., of the chase coming through Coleman and headed into Brown County. Early police officers set up in the 100-block of Early Boulevard to try to throw spike strips in front of the vehicle. 

Police said the vehicle entered Early going in excess of 100 mph and swerved to avoid the spikes.

The vehicle then began to lose control in the 200-block of Early Boulevard, police said. It started hitting street signs and landscaping when it hit a gas meter causing a “fireball explosion.”

Police said the vehicle came to a rest on the east side of Aaron’s, scraping the exterior. 

The car was on fire when three people were removed. Two of them had non-incapacitating injuries and one woman who was not restrained was taken to another hospital. 

Police said several items of evidence were recovered from the vehicle, including meth pipe and bath salts. 

Additionally, police said a Brown County Sheriff’s Office vehicle struck a sign during the pursuit. The officer was not hurt and the vehicle had minor damage. 

The case remains under investigation by Winters police and Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
