ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – An Abilene man accused of sexually assaulting a child for years has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Timothy Unzueta, 37, pleaded guilty to Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and Possession of Child Pornography and received his 35-year sentence Thursday.

An arrest report states detectives contacted Unzueta after a child under the age of 15 made an outcry and claimed she had been sexually abused by him for the past 4 years.

The child made an initial outcry in the past, but court documents state “her family did not believe her.”

She told detectives she came forward the second time because Unzueta “molested her again after promising he would stop,” according to the documents.

The documents state the child was able to provide screenshots of messages Unzueta sent talking about the abuse and police also recovered nude pictures of the victim from Unzueta’s phone.

During an interview at Abilene’s Law Enforcement Center, Unzueta “corroborated a large portion of her allegations,” according to the report.
